Bank denies one-fifteen refund applications

04 Dec, 2005

Contrary to assurances given by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman, the concerned commercial bank denied refund applications by the unsuccessful depositors of I-15 plots and flats.
Hundreds of depositors were returned back during past two days without entertaining their refund applications.
A group of them told PPI on Saturday that denial by the bank branches to entertain their refund applications was in violation of the assurances given by CDA Chairman Kamran Lashari that the bank's branches would entertain refund applications from December 01. 'Bank managers asked us to visit again after December 18,' they added.
They feared that such tactics by the bank officials were being adopted to keep billion of rupees deposited by the I-15 applicants in the bank even beyond December 31.
Depositors had demanded that refund process should be simplified and their hard-eared amount might be paid back to them without further delay as both the CDA and HBL had already earned much profit from their deposits, they added.
