Shamshad's appointment hailed

Convener LCCI Standing Committee on Banking Noman Kabir has hailed the appointment of Dr Shamshad Akhtar as Governor State Bank of Pakistan, says a press release here.
In a statement issued here on Monday, Noman Kabir said Dr Shamshad Akhtar has vast experience of financial sector as she was serving in Asian Development Bank as Manager of Financial Sector and Industrial Division East. He said during her tenure, she had absolute liaison with the LCCI, which showed her keen interest in the betterment of country's economy.
Noman Kabir hoped the newly appointed SBP Governor would continue liaison with the LCCI and make efforts to solve the problems facing the business community. He said at present, the industry was facing problems due to high mark-up rates, which was affecting industrial process in the country. Business community expects Dr Shamshad Akhtar would try her best to cut down mark-up rates.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Industrial & Traders Associations Front (Piaf) Chairman Muhammad Ali Mian in a separate statement has welcomed appointment of Dr Shamshad Akhtar as Governor State Bank of Pakistan. He said Dr Shamshad had vast experience of Asian Development Bank (ADB) behind her and could tackle the issues being faced by Pakistan.-PR
