BoK distributes Rs 1.26 billion among quake victims

The government of NWFP has so far distributed Rs 1.26 billion compensation amount among the victims of the October 8 earthquake through the Bank of Khyber (BoK) said a press release issued here on Friday.
According to Shaukat Ali Khan, spokesman BoK, the bank has opened 2,837 accounts in the affected areas of Mansehra, Balakot, Battal, Shinkiari and Ghari Habibullah. In this connection, the bank has also issued 3,084 chequebooks and a huge amount of Rs 1.26 billion has been released to the victims through encashment of 30,262 cheques.
For this purpose, the bank has also established dozens of booths to facilitate the victims in the opening of accounts and encashment of their cheques. The main booth has opened 1,573 accounts, Balakot 434, Battal 338, Shinkiari 231 and Ghari Habibullah 261.-PR
