Ship with 18,050 tons Turkish flour due on December 14

The second ship carrying 18,050 tons wheat flour from Turkey for earthquake victims is expected to arrive at Karachi port next week.
"The expected arrival of consignment on mv Stella Quarta on December 14, 2005, is part of donation of 50,000 tons wheat flour, committed by Turkey for the survivors of October 8 earthquake, Karachi-based officials engaged in earthquake relief activities told Business Recorder here on Saturday.
MV Spanca had brought 15,950 tons flour, 250 tons sugar and a cargo of blankets on November 28, 2005 which have since been sent to the quake-hit areas.
The last ship mv Stella Terza, carrying 16,000 tons wheat flour is expected on December 20, 2005. Officials said that arrangements to offload the flour from the ship on December 14 are being finalised.
Meanwhile, Senate Standing Committee on Ministry of Textile has asked Sindh and Punjab governments to provide details of tents procured and sent to earthquake areas. In this connection, a subcommittee led by Senator Pari Gul Agha which will meet on Tuesday to review the procurement and provision of tents.
The procurement and dispatching of tents to earthquake areas is going on smoothly in Sindh, officials said, and hoped that the tents procurement target would be met by December 15.
So far, around 45,000 tents have been dispatched to quake-hit areas.
