NWFP Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Raffat Pasha, in a ceremony, inaugurated the newly constructed Police Officers' Bachelor Hostel at Police Lines here on Saturday.
Additional IGP (Investigation) Masood Ahmad Paracha, Additional IGP (HQ) Khurshid Alam Khan, Capital City Police chief Muhammad Habib-ur-Rahman, FRP Commandant Faqir Hussain, DIG (Special Branch) Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, DIG (Inquiry and Inspection) Mian Baz Afridi, AIG (Operations), AIG (Traffic), AIG (Telecom), SSP Peshawar and a large number of high-ranking police officers attended the ceremony.
It is worth mentioning here that police officers were facing acute residential problem for long and many officers had acquired accommodation on rent in private buildings far away from their posting circles and they have to face great hardship in performing their duty with full concentration.
The IGP took strong exception of this problem and ordered for construction of police officer's bachelor hostel on emergency basis under the police welfare scheme.
While inaugurating the newly constructed police officers' bachelor hostel, the IGP pointed out that protection of life, honour and property was the prime responsibility of police for which they will be provided all basic facilities, including accommodation facility to enable them to perform their duty round the clock with due attention.
It is worth mentioning that police officers' bachelor hostel was completed in the shortest possible time of four months. It comprises 16 bedrooms, one dinning hall, common room, gymnasium hall, attendant room and telephone exchange room.
Earlier, Muhammad Raffat Pasha formally inaugurated the newly constructed Police Officers' bachelor hostel by unveiling the plaque.
