The present government is doing its best for the betterment of industrial sector, and its consistent policies have brought economic stability in the country.
The inconsistent policies of past governments unfortunately damaged the industry but now stability prevails due to well-planned policies of present regime. National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Ameer Hussain stated this while addressing the concluding session of a seminar on surgical and medical instruments organised by the EPB here on Saturday.
'The history of surgical industry is as old as the creation of Pakistan itself, and now has attained world-wide repute', he added. He however pointed out that the world had become a global village and was facing new challenges, "so we (should) have to be vigilant on modern day changes."
He urged the people associated with surgical industry to focus on up-gradation and bringing innovations in their products to meet the present day challenges. He said government was aware of the problems faced by the industry.
The Speaker further observed government was already giving impetus to the industry, especially the surgical industry and providing good incentives to it. Praising the business community of Sialkot, he said they had set a new example by taking initiative to construct an airport on their own, which at least would be the biggest in south Asia.
Earlier, the seminar was opened by SIMAP Chairman Naeem Anwar Qureshi and was attended by international consultants and speakers from Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Surgical Instruments Manufactures Association of Pakistan (SIMAP), corporate law firms, PCSIR, Pakistan Standard Quality Control Authority, Smeda, Surgeons and University of Engineering and Technology representatives also attended.
