The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) will meet on December 14 to consider 24 projects and schemes including special package for restoration and rehabilitation of drought-hit areas, official sources told Business Recorder here on Saturday.
In the energy sector, transmission scheme for dispersal of power from Neelum-Jhelum hydropower project including feasibility study, detailed engineering design and preparation of tender documents for Bunji hydropower project would be taken up.
The meeting will also consider a revised proposal regarding PC-1 for system improvement and reduction of T&D losses besides conversion of portion of local cost into foreign exchange component. The Council will consider technology and productivity fund for improvement of SMEs' competitiveness.
Sources said that the meeting would discuss the issue of 'Media City' and installation of two 100 kW SW transmitters and high frequency aerial system for world services in Landhi (Karachi).
In science and technology sector, the Council will consider establishment of 18 water quality monitoring laboratories, installation of 24 demonstration water filtration plants.
Assessment survey of all existing water supply schemes in the four provinces, capacity building of staff of water supply agencies and their monitoring would be taken up, sources said.
They that said Lyari Expressway resettlement project in Karachi, construction of accommodation for Bhitai Rangers (Sindh) at Karachi, and Greater Karachi bulk water supply scheme (K-III) will also be considered.
In governance sector, the meeting will discuss access to justice programme and drought recovery assistance programme project.
According to sources, the Ecnec will consider interconnect billing and customer support system for SCO, improvement of National Highway (N-25), Kararo Wad section, Korangi 8000 road, National Highway Development sector project and black topping of Winder Karaji road up to Dudder (106 km).
The Ecnec will also consider Punjab school libraries (German debt Swap-1), science education project, besides Prime Minister's special initiatives for livestock.
