Railways sell-off in 5 months

Federal Railways Minister Mian Shamim Haider has said that the raise in railway fare was under consideration after thrice increase in the price of diesel.
Talking to newsmen during his visit to Toba Tek Singh, the minister said railways was bearing Rs 1,350 million annual loss, hence serious steps were being taken to privatise this sector, which would be implemented within next five months.
Talking about the work on remaining portion of double track between Lahore and Karachi, he said it would be completed in the next financial year.
Later, the minister inspected the local railway station and ensured citizens for provision of more facilities there. He also visited the residences of District Nazim Chaudhry Abdul Sattar and former District Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq and attended the wedding ceremony of the daughter of former Tehsil Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Rafiq.
He also met with Punjab Forest Minister Dr Ashfaqur Rehman, MNA Farhan Latif and MPA Liaquat Ali Shaukat.
