Prices move both ways during the week

Prices moved both ways on the commodity wholesale markets during the week ended on December 10, 2005. Some of the higher commodities were Irri, dal masoor, cotton cakes, chemicals, showed mixed trend and bajra was down.
On Monday a few changes were marked such as in wheat Mexipak old and new both types shed Rs 5 to Rs 1125 and better was quoted at Rs 1135, and another item juwar lost Rs 25 to Rs 1750 and better type quoted at Rs 1850.
On Tuesday fluctuation were not many. Irri-white better type was higher at Rs 10 to Rs 925 while lower kind stayed put. Wheat Mexipak old and new recovered Rs 5 to Rs 1130 and better type quoted at Rs 1140.
ON WEDNESDAY CHEMICALS UNDERWENT SOME CHANGES ON BOTH WAYS: Caustic soda flakes Saudi down Re 1 to Rs 38, N.J. Taiwan down 50 paisa to Rs 99, petroleum jelly China down Re 1 to Rs 69, PVA Japan down Re 1 to Rs 138, Sitara Caustic Soda flakes down Rs 2 to Rs 38, caustic Taiwan down Re 1 Rs 38, hydrosulphite China 88 percent up Rs 2 to Rs 45, Germany down Re 1 to Rs 58, Germany same item down Re 1 to Rs 38, acetic acid Taiwan down 50 paisa to Rs 27, and Korean 5 pc up 50 paisa to Rs 26.
ON THURSDAY TEA PRICES REGISTERED FIRMER: The Kenya tea PF-1 A Grade up Rs 3 to Rs 174, B grade up Rs 2 to Rs 161, plus C grade up Rs 2 to Rs 140, Bangladesh garden pack original up Rs 2 to Rs 108, Gulab up Rs 4 to Rs 108, and Khushbu up Rs 3 to Rs 102. Elsewhere Irri white low type picked up Rs 25 to Rs 925, and better quality went by Rs 35 to Rs 950, masoor from Australia registered higher at Rs 2750 and dal masoor quoted at Rs 3100.
On Friday Kirana items showed mixed trend. Singapore pepper was up Rs 200 to Rs 4200, mace up Rs 1000 to Rs 22000, big cardamom up Rs 100 to Rs 8000, dry ginger up Rs 100 to Rs 8000, Isbaghol Bhoosi up Rs 100 to Rs 8,500, Sago down Rs 10 to Rs 1200, cuminseed up Rs 250 to Rs 3,850, and tamarind quoted at Rs 720, elsewhere changes were in castorseed Lasbela shed Rs 25 to Rs 725, and same items from Sindh lost same amount to Rs 675.
On the grams side, gram garda Punjab shed Rs 25 to Rs 1875-1925 in process of trading, dealers said. Gram dal garda Punjab followed the same pattern and shed also the same amount, they said. Beetle chana No 1 lost also the same amount to Rs 2025-2075 and beetle chana 50x50 came under pressure and was down Rs 25 to Rs 2325-2375 in process of trading, they added.
Bajra better type gained Rs 15 to Rs 1365, however, low type shed Rs 50 to Rs 1500, dealers said and adding that the other sectors did not move any side in slow activity. On Saturday steady supply position pushed the grams prices lower on the grain market on Saturday where most of the commodities maintained the overnight levels in low business, dealers said.
