Plan to promote tourism in quake-hit areas

Government in collaboration with private sector has prepared a comprehensive plan to promote tourism in the earthquake-hit areas, said Dr G.G Jamal the federal minister for Tourism.
According to a statement issued here on Sunday, the minister said special initiatives are being taken for economic revival and rehabilitation of tourism activities like, establishment of tents motels at the key tourism points like Naran, Kaghan, Shogran and Besham.
The minister said that two years exemption plan is also under consideration to hotels and travel industry on the payment of registration /licences fee to DTS.
Dr Jamal said that feasibility report is being conducted to develop new sites like, Dodipaster lake, Lulsar lake, Raweri Meadow and Ghazisar lake and these sites have been proposed for tax free zone for development of tourism.
It is also plan to hold government and corporate conferences in areas like Naran, Shogran, Balakot, and Muzaffarabad and holding of Saarc tourism minister conference in Naran in August 2006, the minister said. Besides, four skill development institutes would be established at Balakot, Besham, Muzaffarabad and Bagh to impart training to the people in the fields like food and beverage, waiters, receptionists, drivers and other field professionals.
