The residues of the antibiotics injected to animal mixed in milk and meat pose a great threat to public health and no one including government is taking notice of this important matter, said renowned livestock expert Dr Hafiz Muhammad Matiullah while speaking in a meeting of livestock experts here, on Sunday.
He said the antibiotics like Tetracycline, Oxytetracyine, Trimethoprim, Oxytocine and Doxycycline were commonly used in herds and their residues were remained present in milk and meat up to 48 hours and 14 days respectively after administration of these medicines.
These contaminated food items help to generate diseases in human bodies like Early Puberty of children and Frustration which leads to several social disorders, he remarked. Dr Matiullah said that a number of other diseases including cancer might also be developed in the users.
He said that this was not mere prediction rather it was confirmed research conducted in Chemistry department of Agriculture University Faisalabad.
Dr Matiullah said that farmers, milkmen and other stakeholders had to inject these medicines to their animals by time and they could not observe the precautions clearly mentioned on the labels of these medicines due to financial reasons. Thus, the users too could not avoid the use of contaminated milk and meat in ignorance.
He said a number of trails conducted in national agricultural research institutions have proved the efficacy of atest homeo research which could be used with full safety in place of dangerous antibiotics. He further said that only homeo medicines provide the security with no any precaution, therefore, this cheap, safe and quick result producing way of treatment should be adopted by all stakeholders in public and private sector.
