The Vice Chief of Army Staff, General Ahsan Saleem Hayat would leave for Kabul on Wednesday on a two-day official visit (December 14-15). He would lead the Pakistan delegation at the 14th meeting of the Pakistan-Afghanistan-US Tripartite Commission on Border Security.
The Afghan delegation will be led by General Bismullah Khan, Chief of General Staff of the Afghan National Army, while Lieutenant General Kari Eikenberry, Commander Combined Forces Command in Afghanistan will represent the US.
During his stay in Kabul, the Vice Chief of Army Staff will call on President Hamid Karzai. He will also hold bilateral meeting with General Bismullah Khan to discuss matters of mutual interest, particularly Pakistan-Afghan bilateral military co-operation.
General Bismullah Khan had visited Pakistan last August to participate in the 12th meeting of the Tripartite Commission.
The Tripartite meeting would review the Commission's performance and examine ways to further improve co-operation and co-ordination in the fight against terrorism.
