Professor Dr Atta-ur-Rahman, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Science and Technology and Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) has said that the HEC has planned to establish Pak-Korea University of Science and Technology in Pakistan preferably in NWFP.
He was talking to visiting three-member high level delegation from Korea to explore the possibilities of establishing the university. He added that the university would be established nearby a big city and industry. The land will be managed by HEC, while all the technical assistance, skill training and research-oriented instruction would be supervised by the Koreans.
Professor Atta said that this is one of the similar ongoing projects with some technologically advanced countries. Swedish government has to establish an engineering university at Sialkot, French government at Karachi, German government at Lahore and Austrian government at Havelian near Abbottabad.
He emphasised that both sides would have to work on developing a comprehensive document incorporating infrastructure development, human resource development, marketing, linkage with industry, cost of construction, labs development and other necessary facilities.-PR
