The Punjab government has allocated substantial financial resources for the uplift of agriculture sector and it is the utmost duty of agricultural scientists to make dynamic and viable projects in the best national interest to achieve maximum benefit from these funds.
This was stated by the Secretary Agriculture, Punjab, Fayyaz Bashir while addressing a meeting of Agricultural Scientists at Ayub Agricultural Research Institute, Faisalabad.
Among others, Dr Muhammad Afzal, Director General Agriculture (Research), Chaudhry Abdul Ghaffar, Director General Agriculture (Extension), Directors of different formations of the institute participated in the meeting.
The Secretary Agriculture while emphasising the need to enhance performance and efficiency of agriculture department further stated that Government is restructuring the department to augment the quality of services provided to the farmers.
Fayyaz Bashir asked the scientist to introduce new ideas and innovative thinking to increase the performance of Agriculture Department. It was also revealed in the meeting that government is introducing corporate mode in the department and the priority will be given to cash crop institutes in this regard.
