Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, who arrived here on Friday, held a meeting with Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Irrigation Minister Nadir Akmal Leghari at the Governor House.
According to official sources, the overall political situation, law and order and development programmes of the province came under discussion. The issue of water reservoirs also came under discussion.
The prime minister said there is an urgent need to increase water storage capacity and build more water reservoirs, as this is critical for agricultural development, food security and to ensure a better future for Pakistan.
He said the government has initiated a process of dialogue and discussions on water storage issue and decisions would be taken in consultation with all the stakeholders and in the supreme national interest.
