US executives team meets ERRA chairman

US delegation comprising four chief executive officers (CEOs) representing prominent corporate establishments on Friday called on the Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority (ERRA) Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Zubair.
They discussed possibilities of providing assistance in various socio-economic sectors of earthquake devastated areas of AJK and NWFP. The ERRA Chairman briefed the delegation about overall strategy of the authority and steps taken so far.
He said Housing, Education and Health were those sectors, which had been prioritised as they were badly affected due to massive earthquake, devastation. Lieutenant General Zubair, giving the statistics of damaged and destroyed educational institutions and health establishment, said ERRA was pursuing a futuristic policy for long term needs of the affected population by mitigating their sufferings and providing amenities on accelerated pace.
The CEO's delegation from the United States is visiting as a part of President Bush's South Asia Earthquake Relief Fund Programme.
A five member German delegation led by Jens Clausen also called on the ERRA Chairman and exchanged views with him for extending assistance in relief and reconstruction work in the quake affected areas.
Talking to the members of the delegation, the ERRA chief identified the sectors, particularly health and education where donors could come forward and provide assistance by sponsoring the projects.
