Federal commercial courts illegal: LHCBA

17 Dec, 2005

The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has strongly opposed the establishment of Federal (Commercial) Courts.
The bar in its meeting held here on Friday said the constitution did not provide establishment of commercial courts. It also demanded the vacancies of judges in High Courts immediately must be filled.
LHCBA President former Justice Fakharunnisa Khokhar, while addressing the bar members, said if the number of judges was increased in the Lahore High Court, commercial cases could be decided in time. She further said bar would hold a lawyer's convention to raise voice against unconstitutional steps of the present government.
Among others Ahmad Awais, Mian Muhammad Jahangir and Pervez Inayat Malik also spoke on the occasion.
