The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has expressed concern over further increase in prices of petroleum products and sugar and called upon government to make immediate measures to bring down the POL and sugar prices.
"This fluctuation in the prices of POL products is directly affecting the common people, besides industrial sector of the country, said Jalil Ahmad Malik, President RCCI here on Saturday.
Talking to reporters, he said that government should scrap the proposal of natural gas price increase and save people from overburdening.
Malik said despite the oil prices in international market had now been reduced three times but this has benefit not been passed towards the people of Pakistan. "It is a matter of regret that the prices have not been revised despite the reduction of oil prices in international market", he added.
Jalil Malik said that it was a burden on the economy of the country as trade and business directly or indirectly is linked with the oil prices maintained in the country.
He said Pakistan could not sell its products in international market unless the prices of products reduced. He said this had resulted in inflation in the country, which has to be controlled by government.
Speaking about the proposal to increase in natural gas price president RCCI said that natural gas was totally produced locally therefore it is not justified to increase the price of natural gas.
