Gas connection

21 Dec, 2005

A few days back the Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaukat Aziz detailed the government's policy to expand the role of the Private Sector in Power Generation.
We have been in contact with Sui Southern Gas Co Ltd Karachi for the last 2 years to supply a gas connection for power generation of 200 Kv for our service industry.
In Karachi, almost every day, there are lots of breakdowns of electricity and we suffer losses. Whereas, the government policies provide all facilities to all types of small industries including the service industry.
It is not justified that our request for a very small Gas connection for self power generation of about 200 KWA is rejected. It means that the small service industry is deprived of gas whereas influential people are getting the facilities.
We do not know why we, small industries, receive step motherly treatment. We require a gas connection of about 200 KVA and are not asking for a big connection to run a sugar or textile mill, fertilisers.
The Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan is very kind and has promised to solve the grievances of small businesses, we hope our request, which is genuine, will be considered.
