SCBA chief regrets Aitzaz's refusal

24 Dec, 2005

Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Malik Mohammad Qayum has regretted refusal of Barrister Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan to become a member of the SCBA's committee on constitutional and legal reforms.
Talking to reporters, Qayum said inclusion of Aitzaz Ahsan, Sharif uddin Pirzada and other top jurists was proposed in the committee because of their status as former law ministers. He said the SCBA adopted a formula that the committee would comprise former law ministers, adding he sincerely tried to gather top jurists at the platform of the SCBA committee for constitutional reforms.
It may be mentioned that Barrister Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan has declined to become member of the committee because of having Syed Sharif uddin Pirzada in its fold, terming him 'a partner of military dictators'.
