Azad Jammu Kashmir Chamber of Agriculture on Friday called for early construction of more water reservoirs to meet the growing needs of water and electricity of the country.
Talking to APP, the General Secretary of AJK Chamber of Agriculture, Raja Ijaz Salim emphasised the need for the construction of more dams including Bhasha Dam, and Kalabagh dam.
He described that the construction of Kalabagh dam was vital for the speedy national development and economic progress of the country.
He said that Agriculture Chamber fully supported the decision of President General Pervez Musharraf for the construction of Kalabagh dam in the country.
Ijaz Salim continued that the construction of Kalabagh Dam would help meet ever-increasing demand for cheaper resource of energy, adding that construction of more water reservoirs would bring green revolution in the country.
Welcoming the proposed plan about the construction of more water reservoirs in the country, another agriculturist of AJK and member Executive Committee of the Chamber, Raja Muhammad Razaq said it was much needed to meet the increasing demand of cheap electricity for the production and smooth running of the industries besides meeting water demand in near future.
He said that all international forums and the financial institutions including World Bank, after detailed research and comprehensive study, had declared the proposed gigantic project of Kalabagh Dam as feasible from all technical points of view.
He said that the construction of Kalabagh dam should, be started without any further delay adding it would help usher in an era of progress, development, and prosperity in the country.
