City District Government (CDG) Lahore, and Punjab University have decided to collaborate technical expertise and manpower to ensure effective implementation of development projects in the city to control pollution and improve the civic facilities.
The decision was taken during a meeting of City District Nazim Amer Mahmood with Punjab University vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood on Friday.
Amer Mahmood maintained that the government was planning to expand road networks around the university to ensure smooth traffic flow during the peak hours. Appreciating the university's role in quake relief efforts, he said the district government with the help of university would continue to work for the rebuilding in the quake areas.
He said qualified and professional experts of the university would be helpful in the development and expansion projects of the city specially in conducting surveys to acquire data about the need of the people and required facilities to make a development project successful.
Arshad Mahmood said the university could collaborate with the city district government in town planning by using GIS students, agriculture and allied sectors with the help of mycology, biology and CEMB students, disposal of solid waste by the technical assistance of chemical department whereas students of social work, political science and mass communication departments would be instrumental in conducting surveys and compiling reports about the development projects.
