LHC orders reinstatement of PTC teacher

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the District Education Officer, Gujrat to reinstate the petitioner Shahnaz Akhtar a PTC teacher, within one week and submit a report to the court.
The court passed these orders in a contempt petition filed by the petitioner who was terminated in 1993 along with other teachers.
Justice Saeed-ur-Rehman Farrukh of the LHC had ordered to reinstate the petitioner within 15 days but the respondent failed to comply with the court orders. The petitioner's counsel contended before the court that other expelled teachers have already been reinstated in service by the department on the orders of the Supreme Court.
The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel at length, allowed the petition and directed the respondents to reinstate her within one week and submit a report to the court.
HEARING PUT OFF: The LHC adjourned the proceedings till January 26, in an election petition seeking disqualification of Saima Akhtar Bharwana MNA and called the evidence for recording their statements.
A rival candidate, Sahibzada Nazir Sultan, has filed the election petition with prayer to the court to declare her election as null and void.
LHC DIRECTS SSP: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed SSP (Operation) Lahore to appear before the court on January 25, 2006 and inform how 78 different cases have been lodged against a student Muhammad Ali Mujahid and his family members.
The petitioner prayed to the court to quash the FIRs registered him.
