PML-N denounces hike in gas prices

24 Dec, 2005

Pakistan Muslim League (N) on Friday denounced the increase in gas prices saying this increase following hike in oil and other commodities of daily use would put burden on masses already in a fix due to high cost of living.
In a statement, here on Friday, PML-N Central Secretary Information, Sadeeq-ul-Farooq said it seems that the government, by unabated price increase in essential commodities, wants to force the people to starve consequently committing suicide.
He further said that recent wave of price hike in essential commodities would affect the middle and salaried class ultimately. It seems that the present government was compelling the masses to leave the country, Farooq said.
The people of Balochistan, he said are being punished for what he called "for their role in creation of Pakistan" whereas the plan of running goodwill buses and love flowers are being exchanged with the Indians.
He said had there been an elected government in Pakistan, it would have solved masses problems and instead of creating rift among the people on the issue of national importance it would have created consensus and strengthened solidarity.
He alleged the rulers for acting on the behest of foreign countries and for their interests rather than their own people. He was of the view that the people have lost their patience and would come on the roads to remove an anti people government.
