The Minister for Irrigation Punjab, Chaudhry Amir Sultan Cheema has said that sufficient water was available for wheat crop in the province.
Talking to a delegation of growers here Saturday, Cheema admitted that there had been drought for the last three years but the canal system was adjusted and mobilised to effectively tackle the situation.
This strategy worked well because drought had not effected the production of crops, he said adding that better agricultural yield in Punjab would leave positive effects on national economy. He hailed Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi for taking revolutionary steps for promotion of agriculture sector and added that workable strategy had also been adopted to supply canal waters to tail ends.
