Arrangements for City Naib-Nazim poll reviewed

The arrangements with regard to December 28 election for City Naib Nazim were reviewed at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Agha Rafiq Ahmed, district and sessions judge (South) and district returning officer, Karachi, here on Saturday.
In the meeting, arrangements for the City Naib-Nazim election were given final shape and various measures came under consideration. It was decided to hold another meeting on December 27 in the library adjacent to the office of Agha Rafiq Ahmed. It will be attended by DCO Karachi, Capital City Police Officer and all Town Municipal officers.
The members of City Council were told to bring the identity card issued by the Election Commission on the occasion of Naib Nazim election. It may be mentioned here that election of Naib Nazim will be held through show of hand. The election will be held on December 28 at 11.30 am at City Council Hall in which 235 voters will elect City Naib-Nazim. Some 178 UC Nazims and councillors elected on 59 women reserved seats will cast their votes to elect nine members from minority and labour seats.
The meeting was attended by Syed Saeed Hasan, additional sessions judge-I/returning officer, Farzana Anwar Shah, additional sessions judge-III/returning officer, Rana Zaki Shamsi, senior civil judge-VI/returning officer, Tanvir Zaki, assistant election commissioner, Hasan Imam Siddiqi, district officer and others were also present.
