A three-day "Artisan Mela" opened here is aimed to raise fund for the earthquake victims especially women of district Mansehra (NWFP) to help stand on their own feet and encourage them.
The artisan mela has been organised by Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) for promoting " Home Based Producers" of Peshawar, Abbottabad, Mahsehra and Haripur Forum of Enterprise activists, Enterprisers and Artisans.
More than 50 entrepreneurs, including 60 percent women are involved in the mela that will promote different products of about 450 locally based producers. The products include 80 percent women producers.
In this connection, 40 main stalls have been organised and exhibition is opened for the general public. Beautiful hand made handicrafts, crystal works, embroidery, hand work of local home based workers, bead work, silk and glass paintings and the traditional culture of Hazara district, the Gabba work, could be seen in the artisan mela.
The main objective of the mela is to promote the handicrafts and culture of Hazara district and also to help the earthquake victims with the profit generated from the exhibition through the sale of items and tickets.
