Cable operators issued list of approved channels

The cable operators have resumed screening various channels in the federal capital except those 35, which were proscribed by Pemra for not possessing landing rights.
The cable operators pledged to follow the Pemra rules and regulations and not to screen channels which were proscribed by Pemra.
A spokesman of Pemra, Mohmmad Salim told Business Recorder here on Saturday that cable operators had assured the Authority to fully compliance with the notice served to them on December 22 for not airing 35 foreign channels.
Authority had a clear point that the channel operators should first get themselves registered with the Pemra under the prescribed rules and regulation to be permitted to go on air.
To a question, the spokesman said that the authority had approved list of 65 eligible channels for the cable operators and it was mandatory for them to air.
It may be mentioned that some cable operators were not airing new local channels for considerations of their own.
Meanwhile, a press release of the cable operators stated that they were given a list of proscribed channels by Pemra, which was being fully compiled with.
