Opec member Algeria's trade surplus swelled 37 percent to $2.1 billion in November from the same month last year due mainly to rising crude oil exports, official figures showed on Monday.
The trade surplus was at $2.11 billion in November from $1.54 billion in the same month of last year, according to customs data. The value of total exports last month rose 14 percent to $3.6 billion while imports fell 8.0 percent to $1.5 billion.
Sales of oil and gas sales abroad accounted for 97.75 percent of total exports, according to official figures. Algeria's trade surplus stood at $19.1 billion in the first 11 months this year, up 56.6 percent from the same period last year because of soaring oil prices.
