The Monopoly Control Authority (MCA) will take action against some cement factories next week for non-compliance of the order under section 19 of MRTPO 1970.
In a hearing on Saturday at its office, some 17 cement factories were summoned by the Authority under section 19 of MRTPO 1970 for non-compliance, non-registration and wrong supply of information to the Authority, sources told Business Recorder.
The cement factories include Askari Cement Ltd (Wah), Askari Cement Limited (Nizampur), Cherat Cement Ltd, D G Khan Ltd, Fecto Cement Ltd, Kohat Cement Ltd, Maple Leaf Cement Ltd, Dewan Cement Ltd, Dewan Hattar Cement Ltd, Pioneer Cement Ltd, Gharibwal Cement Ltd, Zeal Pak Cement Ltd, Fauji Cement Ltd, Lucky Cement Ltd, Bestway Cement Ltd, Dandot Cement Ltd and Dadabhoy Cement Industries Ltd.
Attorneys on the behalf of their respective clients appeared before the Authority and gave reasons for non-compliance of orders previously passed under various sections.
The Authority comprised Chairman Monopoly Control Authority and its two Members.
The Authority had also served notices to eight sugar mills against non-compliance of orders and not releasing stocks in the market under section 19 of MRTPO 1970.
They have been asked to appear before the Authority on January 2, 2006. The mills include Mirza Sugar Mills Ltd, Pangrio Sugar Mills Ltd, Faran Sugar Mills Ltd, Shahmurad Sugar Mills Ltd, Fecto Sugar Mills Ltd, Baba Farid Sugar Mills Ltd, Brother Sugar Mills Ltd and Yousaf Sugar Mills Ltd.
