Thai TAC users up 32 percent

Total Access Communication PCL (TAC), Thailand's second-largest mobile phone firm, said on December 23 that its net new subscribers rose 32 percent in November due to marketing campaigns.
Singapore-listed TAC, said in a statement it had 125,426 net new subscribers in November, up from 95,068 in October.
TAC had 100,721 net new pre-paid clients last month versus 80,192 in October. It had a net 24,705 new post-paid clients, up from 14,876 in October after it launched a promotion last month.
TAC's post-paid subscriber base rose 11 percent on year in November, while pre-paid customer base increased 10 percent, it said. TAC, majority-owned by Norway's Telenor ASA, had 8.53 million subscribers at the end of November. It has said it expects to end the year with 8.88 million subscribers.
Thailand, which has a population of 64 million, has more than 29 million mobile users, or 46 phones per 100 people, against around 65 in Malaysia and 40 in the Philippines.
