ERC chief for completion of school buildings in Rawalpindi

Raja Rashid Hafeez, MPA and Chairman Education Reforms Committee (ERC) has directed the concerned authorities to accelerate the pace of work on construction and renovation of public sector school buildings in Rawalpindi district to complete the work before end of February.
He was heading a meeting of district education reforms committee, which was attended by high officials of education department.
Hafeez said that the top most priority should be given to reconstruction of the school buildings, which got damaged during the October 8 devastating earthquake in the district. He instructed the officials to ensure quality construction work and provide all facilities in government schools to achieve the goals of Learned Punjab Programme (LPP) announced by chief minister Punjab.
He was of the view that the Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was giving top most priority and full heeds to education sector and efforts were underway for improving the quality of education to enhance the rate of literacy in the province.
"In a bid to get full fruits of LPP Punjab government has already approved the appointment of new teachers and to start proper teacher's training project", he added.
Rashid said that steps would be taken to increase the capacity of teachers by enhancing their pay structure, which would help in promoting education culture in the province.
He said that the Punjab government was also trying to give new education system and many plans were under consideration to evaluate new education policy to cater the needs of modern times. "Special attention is being given on computer education on primary level in whole province", he added.
