US MIDDAY: cocoa mixed

05 Jan, 2006

US cocoa futures settled narrowly mixed on Wednesday after light producer sales and speculative liquidation nudged the benchmark contract's price down from a four-month peak, market sources said.
The New York Board of Trade's (NYBOT) active March cocoa contract dipped $2, or 0.1 percent, to end at $1,544 a tonne, having dealt from $1,532 to $1,554. The top trade was the highest for the contract since September 9. Among other NYBOT cocoa futures, the May delivery slipped $1 to settle at $1,565 a tonne, and more distant positions ended down $1 to up $1.
