The 20th Lahore International Book Fair will be inaugurated by its chief patron, Punjab Governor Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) on March 2 at the Expo Centre, Fortress Stadium, Lahore Cantt.
This fair promises to be the biggest literary and educational event in the history of Punjab, with over 200 stalls booked by international and domestic publishers displaying books on every subject under the sun.
The participation by Saarc Group of publishers will be a special attraction. Last year, hundreds of thousands of visitors thronged the fair and bought thousands of books at discounted prices.
The Fair managing committee has also organised free entertainment for the public on the sidelines of the Fair at the Expo Centre. A Public Forum will be conducted to which reputed authors, celebrities and film stars have been invited to interact with the public. The Rafi Peer Group is setting up a 'Puppet show' everyday at the Fair. The Ajoka Theatre Group will be performing a play "Marya Hoya Kutta" at the fair. The timings of the fair will be from 10 am to 12 midnight every day because last year, the organisers had difficulty closing the Fair even at midnight because of huge flow of visitors with families. Parking is free and secure while entry is also free.
