Three tax defaulting firms penalised

Three tax defaulter firms have paid a total of Rs 41,312,130 to the government exchequer on action taken by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Complaints of tax evasion were received against Rehman Steel Furnace Pvt Ltd Lahore, Siddique Iron Industries Pvt Ltd Lahore (both owned by the same person) and Transtech Ltd Lahore, according to a NAB press release.
Probe proceedings were initiated and Deputy Collector Customs Lahore, Asif Khan was asked to provide the complete record regarding the evasion of taxes and customs duty by the said firms.
He was also told to inform the firms that their case had been referred to NAB and they would have to face legal action if they failed to pay the customs duty and taxes as assessed by the Collector of Customs.
The official has intimated to the bureau that the firms have finally deposited the adjudged amount and penalty imposed on them, and no amount is now outstanding against the accused persons/firms.
Rehman Steel has paid arrears of Rs 19,540,751 and Rs 300, 000 penalty, Siddique Iron Industries has also paid Rs 19,540,751 and penalty of Rs 300,0O0, while Transtech Pvt Ltd has paid a total of Rs 1,630,628.
