Fashions apparels export urged

The textile sector should move briskly towards exports of fashion garments to enhance foreign exchange earning for the country. Chaudhry Shahid Nazir, Chief Executive, Masood Textile Mills observed this while inaugurating an exhibition organised by the Fashion design department of the University of Faisalabad here on Monday.
He said although Pakistan was among the major producers of cotton, they are still straggling with the export of raw or semi-finished textile products.
He urged early completion of the value addition chain up to include fashion garments.
He lauded the university's role in providing educated and trained manpower to the textile sector, and urged the youth to promote Pakistan as a symbol of quality and innovation in the world markets.
Pro-Rector Professor Dr Abdul Majeed said the university had linked its curricula with the practical needs of the industrial sector to cater to the future needs of this sector and foster closer working ties among students, faculty and industry.
He said students had expressed their creativity through computer graphics, textile designing, paintings etc.
Chaudhry Shahid appreciated their efforts and purchased some paintings. He was presented a memento of his visit by the Pro-Rector.
