The World Association of Muslim Jurists (WAMJ) has decided to move the European Court of Human Rights against the state of Denmark for publishing blasphemous cartoons of the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah Be Upon Him).
According to a statement issued here on Sunday, the WAMJ took this decision after consulting its central and regional associations in Europe and America and decided to move the European HRs court under Article 10 of its constitution on behalf of certain Muslim nationals of Britain, which is EU member.
"As the state of Denmark has failed to take any action against the offenders under its own penal code, it has violated the Constitution of Human Rights so the petitioners seek leave for hearing their petition to secure the ends of justice."
A panel of senior lawyers including Ismail Qureshi, Dr Babar Awan, Barrister Abrar Majal, former Justice Sheikh Khizar Hayat, Barrister Masood Qadir, Mian Sher Alam, Dr Zafar Ali Raja will meet Secretary WAMJU England A S Qureshi, Bar-at-Law, Barrister Ziaullah Zaki and other prominent jurists in London for lodging the petition.
