This is with reference to a letter of Ghulam Muhammad published in your esteemed daily on 4th March, 2006, under the caption: 'Adoption of Western culture.
The letter, besides mentioning other issues, says: 'Recently, the newly-appointed Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan has passed orders that the male officials of the Bank should not dress themselves in Shalwar/Kameez'.
This allegation is absolutely baseless, false and ridiculous." It is clarified that neither the State Bank nor its Governor has issued any order directing its officials to wear or not to wear a particular dress.
It may be pointed out that Shalwar/Kameez with waist-coat is our national dress and no public sector organisation or its management can even think of issuing such a directive which is against the national policy.
Before writing such a letter, the writer should have first ascertained the facts from the State Bank's management.
I would like to request Ghulam Muhammad to visit the State Bnak to see for himself that the SBP officials invariably wear Shalwar/Kameez.
