PML-N provincial executive committee has decided that no elections would be acceptable to Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) without the active participation of exile leadership of PPP and PML-N.
The decision was taken in a meeting of provincial executive committee here on Monday, which was chaired by PML-N Central General Secretary Iqbal Zaffar Jhagra. PML-N President Punjab Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Secretary General Bilal Yasin, Ghulam Datageer Khan, Begum Tehmina Daultana, Rana Sanaullah Khan, Muhammad Naseer Bhutta, Rai Ejaz MPA and other provincial leaders were also present in the meeting.
The meeting also decided that if the rulers announce next general elections schedule in the absence of Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto, the alliance would agitate against the elections.
In the meeting, it was told that Sharif brothers and Benazir Bhutto have made plans to return to Pakistan and announcement of their landing at the Lahore airport could be expected any time from them. It also pledged that on the direction of Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto the joint resignation would be tendered from national and provincial assemblies, while ARD and MMA were heading towards a grand alliance and very soon the agenda of the alliance would be announced.
Through a resolution, the meeting urged the government to end the army operation in South Waziristan and Balochistan, and only political diplomacy should be adopted to resolve the situation. They also urged the government to review the prices of sugar, petroleum products and electricity tariff.
