Under the prevailing circumstances, it proves true that "In Hee Pattharoon Pe Chal Ker Ager Aa Sako to Aao, Mer-e-Ghar Ke Raastay Mai Koi Kahkashan Nahi Hai" as most of the roads and streets are looking in bad shapes due to pro-longed delay in the construction works in the city.
Karachiites, who already live in uncertainties due to a lot of civic problems, are facing several hardships as construction work or project is not completed according to the set time frame, a survey revealed.
It appeared that travelling the abroad is an easy task, as compared to travel on buses on rickshaws or taxis because people believe that they somehow will reach the destinations, instead of travelling on roads to go to the another place in the city.
At the opening ceremonies of the roads or bridges, ministers want completion of the development works at a given period but it never completed on time. When the city government starts any project, or before beginning the work, it must form a comprehensive strategy and work hard to keep the process of uplift work easy to finish timely.
There was no sign of any improvement in practical works in any sector as it appears that the city government opens a Pandora's box.
It has been observed that when the works start on the dilapidated roads, they create several problems for the general public, the government shows it's helplessness and these slogans appear in the media that undergoing construction works are being delayed due to lack of funds. Where does the fund go? Without knowing how much is needed to complete any project, how the government begins the work?
This is happening for the last several years, it's an old practice, it is an adage that think before speak, why the government does not think before starting the work.
People are worried under the circumstances, as they have no proper bus stops and footpaths, but the interesting thing to note here is that drivers and conductors know it very well that where are the Paidageers. These negative factors were also giving an open invitation for accidents, specially for the children and old citizens. Some old men and women were trying to cross the rubble of bricks near the Liaquatabad, but they could not do so and slipped from that artificial mountain. They all received severe injuries and one of them also lost the purse.
They went hospital to get first aid. The man, who lost his purse, saying Inshallah I will be here at the opening ceremony of these roads and bridges and will request our ministers to dig this road again to get back my lost purse. Requesting the passengers and who were around him, please pray for me may I will get back it again. Sometimes, severe accidents are caused because of delay in the uplift works. As a whole, due to the construction works, it seems that not a single road is in better condition for easy flow of the traffic.
A few streets near the Jail Chowrangi and the Islamia college were still under the construction. The works had started nearly one year ago and the completion of works are not looking in the near future despite the government's assurances. The citizens were expecting that the roads and bridges at Sohrab Goth, Liaquatabad, Ghareebabad, Super Highway and Aaisha Manzil, which are under construction, will be completed on time. Beggary and unemployment, prices of all essential commodities are on rise and causing frustrations among the masses, but who cares of these shortcomings.
A construction work also started at the Civic Centre and people who pass the way daily, guessing that this project might be completed in a short period of time due to its extraordinary importance.
