Contractor restrained from digging mud

The Lahore High Court (LHC) while issuing notices to Chief Administrator Auqaf Faisalabad, Punjab, and Director Irrigation Punjab for April 27, has restrained the contractor from digging mud from the area of Saint Baba Abul Khair alias No lakh Hazarvi.
The court passed these orders during the course of proceedings in a petition filed by one Muhammad Rafiq Sabir challenging the decision of irrigation department allowing the contractor to dig out mud from the area of Saint Abul Khair.
The petitioner submitted that people of the area and followers of the Saint would not allow digging out mud from the area.
He, therefore, prayed to the court to cancel the contract and restrain the respondent from digging out the mud till the disposal of the petition.
The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel M D Tahir at length, issued status quo orders and called for a report and comments from the respondents.
