A workshop on "creating a roadmap to guide women in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to access learning through technology" is being organised here by the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) from March 18 to 21.
The workshop is being organised in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) and Ecommerce Gateway (Pvt) Ltd.
The event would be parallel to the Third Textile Asia 2006 - International Textile and Garment Machinery Show, which would provide an opportunity to the participant of the workshop to understand the textile industry of Pakistan.
Till now 36 women entrepreneurs from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Iran, Jordan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mali, Mauritania, Nigeria, Singapore, Sudan, Uzbekistan, and Uganda have confirmed their participation.
The objective of the workshop is to further upgrade the skills of women entrepreneurs, which is important to improve competitiveness and to bring them into the mainstream of economic development.
Through this entrepreneurship programme, participants will be trained to improve their financial planning skills and to assess key success factors attributed to developing sustainable businesses.
In addition, case studies will be presented along with exercise sessions in groups.
It is hoped that this workshop will provide an opportunity for the women entrepreneurs to establish a network and interact among themselves.
