The Airblue has become a fast growing private sector airline in the country as one million passengers have travelled through this airline during the last 21 months.
"Now 0.1 million passengers are travelling through Airblue every month", said Airblue Chairman Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, while talking to newsmen after welcoming one-millionth passenger at Karachi Airport here on Tuesday.
Samara Azam, an American born Pakistani, who reached here on Monday, and was travelling through Airblue for Islamabad was the one-millionth passenger.
The management of Airblue welcomed her at the airport and gave her gifts. She was given unlimited travelling facility through Airblue for one month with two nights stay at any Avari Tower Hotel, one night at Pearl Continental and 12 air tickets for her family. Abbasi said the Airblue started its operation some 21 months back and now it has become a successful private sector airline in the country. He said that one million passengers have availed its services and now 0.1 million passengers are travelling through it every month with its share of 30 percent of the market.
He said the Airblue is operating 60 flights every week for 26 destinations with seven aircraft. "Now we are planning to add more aircraft in our fleet, and it is expected that three to four more aircraft would be added to the fleet soon", he added.-PR
