The Higher Education Commission has asked the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan to submit a formal proposal for establishing 'University of Finance and Accounting'.
In a letter the President's Secretariat has asked the ICAP to submit a formal proposal for the establishment of the university.
Earlier, in February this year, President Pervez Musharraf in a meeting with ICAP President Shabbar Zaidi and Graham Ward, President IFAC, had emphasised the need for promotion of professional accounting education in the county and had asked the ICAP to step forward and play a major role in this regard, including establishment of a modern university for that purpose.
In pursuance to these instructions, the Council of ICAP in a meeting decided to form a subcommittee.-PR
