Ibad inaugurates K-3 water project

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad performed the inauguration ceremony of testing of the pumping station of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB), K-3 project, in Dhabeji on Saturday.
Addressing the ceremony, he said that Karachi will get additional water with completion of this project, and directed the officials concerned to complete other schemes as per schedule so as to improve the water situation in Karachi.
KW&SB Managing Director Brigadier Iftikhar Haider, in his briefing, said the project was completed at a cost of Rs 6.7 billion provided by the federal government.
He said the project was started in 2003 and completed in four years, but it would have been completed earlier than the stipulated time, and will start pumping water from March 31, 2006. He said Karachi will get additional 100 million gallons of water daily through this project.
Dr Ibad formally pushed the button to start the testing of the pumping project.
Earlier, District Nazim Syed Shafqat Hussein Shah Shirazi and local notables welcomed the governor.
Karachi City Nazim Mustafa Kamal, Thatta DCO Mohammed Usman Panhwar, Thatta DPO Ghulam Haider Jamali, KW&SB officials, and other officials concerned were present on the occasion.
