Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Tuesday said that the federal secretaries, who play a pivotal role in the success of government policies and development of the country, need to have a clear vision about the goals and targets of their respective ministries and adopt a result-oriented approach for speedy decisions and efficient functioning.
The prime minister was addressing the federal secretaries at the Prime Minister House on Tuesday. Shaukat said the government is proud of the civil service and federal secretaries are an asset for the country. The government expects them to act as change agents to bring about a meaningful change in the life of average Pakistanis.
He advised the federal secretaries to maintain neutrality and fairness while making decisions and not get influenced by political and other pressures.
He said the government would continue to formulate clear policies to ensure fair and quick decisions.
He said the government is focusing on the training of public servants to better prepare them to face the challenges being posed by an ever-changing globalised world.
The prime minister said the Public Sector Capacity Building Programme launched by the government would train the civil servants in better decision-making by opening up their minds and inculcating in them a better thinking process.
He said the government will take steps for a better salary structure for government servants and better benefits would be offered to the retiring government servants. The process will be initiated in the next budget, a press release issued here said.
