Chairman Senate, Mohammedmian Soomro has appealed to the British and other foreign investors to benefit from liberal foreign investment opportunities offered by the government of Pakistan in Information Technology and tourism sectors.
He made this observation here on Friday while talking to the British Parliamentary delegation led by Dominic Grieve, a Conservative Party MP. Soomro expressed satisfaction that relations between Pakistan and United Kingdom were growing fast. It is worth mentioning that the members of the Pakistan community were making a significant contribution in highlighting Pakistan's image in the UK, he added. Stressing the need of frequent exchange of students and youth, the Senate Chairman opined that this would help foster friendship between the two countries.
Referring to the commercial ties between the two countries, he said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its trade relations with UK. He said that there was tremendous potential for investment in various sectors including Information Technology and tourism and lack of correct information about travel advisory was one of the main hurdles in attracting foreign investment as according to him the multinational companies generally follow the travel advisory.
The leader of the Conservative Party parliamentarians thanked the Senate Chairman and the government of Pakistan for warm reception and hospitality. He underlined the need for highlighting Pakistan's history and rich cultural heritage abroad. He said that Pakistanis residing in UK are playing a significant role in highlighting country's image for improving ties with United Kingdom.
Later, the Senate Chairman hosted a reception in honour of the British Conservative MPs. It was also attended, by federal ministers, elected representatives, diplomats and senior government officers. Secretary Senate Raja Muhammad Amin was also present.
