THE RUPEE: 13 paisa gain in open market

01 Apr, 2006

Firmness prevailed in the interbank market on Friday as the rupee held its overnight value for the third day versus the dollar at 59.96 and 59.98, moneychangers said.
Steady inflows of dollar helped the country's foreign exchange to maintain its firmness as a result of handsome rise in the remittances, analysts said.
The dollar fell sharply against the major currencies in the overseas markets.
The rupee, however, lost 40 paisa in relation to the euro for buying and selling at Rs 72.75 and Rs 72.85, dealers said.
