PPPP starts preparations for elections

Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) Punjab in preparation of its campaign for future general elections in the country will hold meetings of all district presidents of the province, at Lahore from April 17 to 30, 2006.
This was told by Navid Chaudhry, party provincial information secretary at a press conference here on Friday.
He said in party's other important programmes Peoples Labour Federation will hold a seminar in connection with the anniversary of 1973 Constitution at Hamdard Centre Lahore on April 12. He averred that Peoples Party Lahore chapter also preparing for future elections in the country will hold its meeting at Lahore on April 15, 2006.
The Provincial Youth Organisation of the party under a programme will hold a convention at Multan on April 16. The provincial segment of the party will also hold a workers convention at Toba Tek Singh on April 16. In other programmes chalked out by the party, a woman wing convention of the party will be held at Faisalabad on April 29, 2006, he added.
Criticising the government for its various failures he said that largest ever trade deficit is the gift of the present government. Lamenting hike in sugar and cement prices, he castigated the government over closure of 134 knitwear units.
He demanded formation of a caretaker government to hold general elections. Criticising National Accountability Bureau (NAB), he said this institution had lost its purpose. He said Punjab PPPP had established a committee to choose candidate for provincial bye-election at Bahawalnagar and its report will come shortly.
A meeting of executive body of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPP-P) Punjab was held, here on Friday. The meeting chaired by party's provincial head Qasim Zia discussed arrangements of 27th death anniversary of founder of PPP Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on the occasion.
