India must respond positively to President Pervez Musharraf's proposals of demilitarisation and self-governance to concretise the historic peace opportunity and resolve Kashmir dispute once for all, a senior Kashmiri leader Chaudhry Maqbool Raza Rajorvi said on Sunday.
"This is for the first time that any leader has offered a comprehensive step by step approach to resolve the lingering dispute, New Delhi must show sincerity and courage to bring durable peace to humanity of South Asia," Chaudhry Maqbool Raza Rajorvi said.
The veteran leader and AJK Awami Conference President said even pro-India political segments in the Occupied Kashmir had acknowledged and hailed the Pakistani proposals as a viable way forward.
"President Musharraf has shown remarkable statesmanship and vision in addressing concerns of all three partners through these proposals and at the same time made it clear that only that solution will be tenable which is in accordance with aspirations of the people of Kashmir," he told APP in an interview. Speaking about the importance of demilitarisation proposal, he said it would create a sense of security and comfort among people in the Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Maqbool Rajorvi also noted the importance of a unified APHC stand on Kashmir at this critical juncture of the history and said politicians of all shades and civil society leaders should work collectively and urge the India to come out with a courageous response to Pakistani proposals.
